Bridges

1. MISSING TOOTH (edentulous space)

A bridge can be used to restore a space where there is a missing tooth.

2. ABUTMENTS (teeth or implants) ARE PREPARED

Teeth on either side of the space are prepared much the same way teeth are prepared for crowns. They are reduced on all surfaces to accomodate the placement of  the chosen restorative material that will form the shape of the bridge. An impression is taken that records the bridge preparations. The impression is sent to the dental lab where a bridge is custom made from a model created from the impression. The bridge can be made of a gold alloy, all ceramic material or combination of both depending on the strength and esthetic requirements.

3. BRIDGE CUSTOM MADE BY DENTAL LAB

The custom made bridge is 'tried in' to ensure proper fit and function.

4. CEMENTED OR BONDED TO ABUTMENTS PERMANENTLY

The final step is to permanently cement or bond the bridge onto the abutment teeth once proper fit and function achieved.
