Root Canals

1. Cause

Tooth pulp (nerves and blood vessels) irreversibly damaged by bacteria associated with decay, deep fillings, fractures, trauma or infected pulp tissue.

2. Treatment - Cleaning and Shaping

Removal of affected pulp tissue/bacteria by accessing, finding and cleaning of the root canal system within the tooth. This process also creates a shaped canal system that allows a proper fill and a predictable final result.

3. Treatment - Filling

Filling and sealing (obturating) the cleaned and shaped root canal system.

4. Completion

Restore tooth to prevent leakage, maintain funtion and strength. Due to the general nature and cause of the Root Canal Therapy (Endodontics), a crown or onlay is most often restorative procedure recommended.

*Note - The choice of the final restoration is determined by several factors such as occlusion and quality of tooth structure. A simple filling is shown here and may not indicative of your needs.
