Restorative Services
It is great news that the incidence of tooth decay has decreased over the years due to preventive measures and patient awareness. However, we are still susceptible to decay, accidents, teeth grinding, breakage and harmful bacteria that can cause problems for our teeth and gums.
Through advanced techniques and technology we are able to offer an increasing array of options should you ever require restorative treatment. Our restorative services are designed to correct these problems, restoring your mouth to proper function and comfort in the most aesthetic manner possible.
TOOTH-COLOURED FILLINGS (restorations)

Decay or old unsightly restorations are directly replaced chairside by white or tooth-coloured composite resin materials which are bonded the teeth
As with any type of filling, white fillings have limitations based on the amount of tooth structure remaining after the affected tooth structure has been removed.
Uses: restore teeth with small-medium sized cavities or unsightly/broken-down restorations.
BONDING

Among the quickest and simplest (usually requires single visit) methods to restore and improve the appearance of teeth that are: chipped, fractured, decayed, discoloured or have spaces.
With bonding, tooth coloured materials are applied or bonded to the tooth surface.
Uses: conservative restoration of minor to moderate defects/damage of teeth.
IMPLANTS

Are essentially artificial roots placed into the jaw bone to support replacement crowns, bridges and dentures in areas where teeth are missing creating a smile that looks and feels natural.
Tissue conserving because they fuse to bone, the bone is less likely to shrink.
Eliminate the need for invasive procedures on adjacent teeth.
While high tech in nature, implants offer the best long term value and are the ‘gold standard’ in restoring areas of missing teeth.

INLAYS, ONLAYS, PARTIAL CROWNS

Are custom made lab restorations of composite resin or porcelain bonded into or onto the tooth to replace the missing or damaged portions.
They reinforce and strengthen while keeping the tooth looking natural.
Uses: where more extensive medium-large sized restorations are required or as a more long term option to tooth coloured fillings.

CROWNS

Are custom made restorations (of ceramic, gold or combination of both) to cover or ‘cap’ extensively damaged or compromised teeth which cannot be restored to strength, health and appearance with a more conservative treatment option.
Uses: restore teeth which are: badly damaged, root canal treated, heavily filled, stained, mis-shapen or mal-aligned. ...Learn more
ROOT CANAL TREATMENT (endodontics)

Necessary when the pulp (blood vessels and nerves) of a tooth has been irreversibly damaged by bacteria associated with decay, deep fillings, cracks, trauma or infected pulp tissue.
Involves removal of affected pulp tissue/bacteria by finding, cleaning and filling the root canal system within the tooth.
Uses: to preserve an extensively damaged, compromised, infected or painful tooth. ... Learn more
